IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO START

Far too often we put so much pressure on ourselves to accomplish certain goals within a particular time frame or by a certain age. While it is great to set goals and timelines, we must be very mindful that we are moving within Gods timing for us. I think back to some of the things that I prayed for and when I did not get them, I was disappointed but knowing what I know now, I was not ready.

Growing up I was always a late bloomer. By the time I got around to doing things many of my friends had already did them, even my birthday is last. LOL. Then life happened and took me way off track. Many of the dreams and aspirations were slowly disappearing. I had come to the place that I figured it was too late to do any of these things. I was too old to go back to school to pursue me career goal. I was now a mother and my focus should be on the children. I made all kinds of excuses. Those excuses caused me to waste more time. It wasn’t until my mindset changed that I stopped making excuses.

In 1997 I graduated with honors and earned my Medical Assistant diploma. 2012 I earned my Associate in Science in Business Management and became a Certified Life Coach. In 2020 I graduated Magna Cum Laude and earned my Associate Degree in Biblical Studies. Currently I am enrolled and on track to earn my Bachelor of Theology and plan to keep moving forward until I earn my Doctorate. I have had a few comments on why I am just now doing this, and the answer is simple and plain, because now I am ready.

I share this not to brag on my accomplishments but to show you that once you have a made-up mind and stop making excuses, things happen. I encourage you to write the vision in detail and do not skip any steps. Set realistic and concrete goals but don’t forget to leave wiggle room for those “bumps” that may appear. Before you do any of that pray, seek God for vision, clarity, patience and wisdom. When you start to get a little discouraged think about Sarah, she was way past the childbearing age and had given up hope, but God! Your giving birth may not be that of a child but a business, a non-profit, a book, a play, a movie, a ministry. Whatever it is, know that there are people waiting on you to birth it. Be encouraged and know, it is never too late to get started.
